Happy Spring 2019! I am excited to get started working outside again. It was a rough Winter in our area with many cold and gloomy days! So much ice this year, yuck! Bring on the sunshine and warm Spring days, I can’t wait! With the warm weather coming, there are a few things that you should be doing in the next few weeks to prepare your landscape for the Spring!
Last years plant material should be cleaned off and removed from the beds. Along with the leaves and branches in the landscape beds and on the grass. Roses this year are going to need a good trimming due to the cold and icy winter. They will have a good amount of dead wood on them. Some may be totally dead and replacement will be required. Apply bed pre-emergent as soon as you possibly can in the season. The early you get the product down and watered into the ground, the better weed prevention results. Add a fresh layer of mulch to the landscape beds. A lite layer of mulch will add a nice fresh touch of color. Also, It helps to keep moisture in the ground all year long during those hot summer days!
Seeding bare spots or overseeding the shaded yard should be done in the next couple weeks. You can fertilize the yard with a starter fertilizer but do not put down fertilizer with pre-emergent. There is no real trick to growing grass. If you have bare ground, you can just throw the seed down and walk away. Let the Spring rains do the rest!
If your yard is struggling from the winter blues, give us a call! We are offering a special fertilization promotion. Purchase a 5 application program for the 2019 season and receive free grub application! Prepay for all 5 applications at the time of signing up and receive an 8 percent discount on your total!
